Socotra Island boasts a unique wildlife, home to numerous animal species found nowhere else, making it one of the world’s most important islands for biodiversity. While the island’s flora is its most famous feature, its animal world is equally fascinating.
Socotra is home to a large number of endemic birds, such as the Socotra eagle and the Socotra thrush, as well as migratory birds that pass through the island during migration seasons. The island is also famous for its unique reptiles, boasting over 20 rare species found nowhere else.
As for the marine life around Socotra, it is rich in coral reefs and colorful fish, making diving and snorkeling an essential part of the visitor’s experience.
